NO cell phones. If you would like your child to have a cell phone because they are driving to and from school now, students can leave their cell phones locked in their cars during the school day. If a message needs to be given to a student, please feel free to call the school and leave it with hospitality. They will get the message to your child. Also, there are phones in every classroom and phones downstairs for students to use if needed, at any time. Please note that all emergency cards are always updated with your most current information. Also, please make sure if your child relies on their cell phone for numbers to reach you, that they have it written down somewhere in their backpacks.
If a cell phone is seen, it will be taken. A parent will need to come and retrieve it with their child from the staff member who took it. This will be the last reminder that there will be no cell phones in school. If a cell phone is taken again, administration will be brought in.
There are also a couple dress code updates. As for the collared polo shirts that HS students must wear, they may be any color, however they must be SOLID or STRIPED. They cannot have words, or drawings, or patterns, or designs, or be plaid. There were many different interpretations of the dress code last year that created many conflicts. So to keep it simple collared shirts must be SOLID or STRIPED.
Also there will be NO more tank tops. If students would like to wear another shirt underneath their polo shirts, it needs to be a crew neck T-shirt. If a crew neck T-shirt is not worn underneath, then polo shirts must be buttoned up to the second button from the top. The point of wearing polo shirts in the first place is so that students remain covered.
Shirts may still remain untucked and belts do not need to be worn. Students may still wear jeans.
HS students have the most relaxed dress code. If these rules cannot be followed, students will have to go back to the stricter MS dress code.
If your child will be a student driver this year, they must be registered with the school. Student driver rules and registration forms are upstairs in Mrs. Mackley’s office (Mrs. Sharp’s old office.) It is $45 to register a driver for the school year and $5 to get your parking sticker.
